About Tech Tortillas

Texas Tech University alum Kirby Holmes, class of 1994, created TechTortillas.com on January 1, 2023 to celebrate the tradition of tossing tortillas at Tech. Kirby believes it is time to start wearing tortilla style fashions to Red Raider football games. The tradition of Texas Tech tortillas is advancing: Wear'em Tech!

Kirby is among several Red Raider students from the early 1990's who have insider information about throwing tortillas at Tech football games. With the ongoing popularity of this tradition at Texas Tech Kirby decided to pivot from this idea with curated tortilla themed fashions for all Tech athletes, alumni, and students. Wear'em Tech!

Kirby is a man of many talents, with a passion for serving others that has led him down several diverse paths. He was born and raised in Houston, Texas before attending Texas Tech University in 1990. Kirby has made a name for himself as a pastor, missionary, and entrepreneur.

Kirby's journey began when he felt called to Christian missions work as a Texas Tech student. With a degree in B.A. in Communications and minor in Russian Language and Area Studies he began serving in Estonia and Russia as a long-term missionary. Kirby's deep commitment to his faith and his love for people quickly earned him a reputation as a compassionate and dedicated leader.

Kirby's entrepreneurial spirit led him to start his own business, K9 Mask® by Good Air Team, which landed him on the hit television series "Shark Tank" in 2020. Kirby's innovative idea for an air filter mask designed for dogs is now protecting pets from wildfire smoke, valley fever, chemical spills, red tide toxins, tear gas, allergens, and more.

Kirby recently joined the NerdySoft team in 2023. NerdySoft, a premium Financial Technology Software Development company located in Lviv, Ukraine, specializing in providing cutting-edge software solutions for financial institutions, from banks to payment solution providers, to help them optimize their operations, reduce costs, and drive growth.  Kirby is the Director of Business Development for NerdySoft in the United States.

During the summer of 2023 Kirby joined the staff of World Relief. World Relief is a global Christian humanitarian organization that is fighting for change that lasts, right here in the U.S. and across the globe. World Relief brings sustainable solutions to the world’s greatest problems – disasters, extreme poverty, violence, oppression, and mass displacement. The organization is approximately 80 years old and has worked in over 100 countries around the world since its founding.

Despite his busy schedule, Kirby remains committed to his faith and to serving others. He continues to serve as a pastor and a missionary, while also running his successful business. Kirby's dedication to his community and his willingness to embrace new ideas has made him a dynamic and unique graduate of Texas Tech University.
